Instructions for Procuring Wireless Network Card
Casper College will support Cisco wireless network PC cards, integrated HP wireless modules, and Linksys wireless PC cards. The Linksys wireless PC cards are available for purchase in Casper College's bookstore. Since the wireless network on campus is using Cisco's Aironet 1200, we have found that the Cisco wireless network PC cards are the easiest to install. Whichever you choose, make sure the card will support IEEE 802.11b or 802.11g standard. The data rate for 802.11b is 11 Mbps; the data rate for 802.11g is 56Mbps.
You will register the MAC address of the card. The MAC address can be located on the underside of the card. You must enter all the numbers following MAC address on the register page. Verify the numbers are entered exactly as printed on the card before clicking on submit on the web page. Those who register a MAC address are solely responsible for its use. You will be held accountable for any activity associated with the MAC address. Those who have integrated wireless cards can obtain their MAC address in Windows XP by opening Network Connections on the Status Line. Right click on Wireless Network Connections.
Allow 24 hours after registration to access the wireless network.
