The curriculum in Early Childhood Education is designed to qualify students for teaching and management positions in child care centers, preschools, child development centers, and in other positions dealing with the care of young children.
The Early Childhood curriculum includes a greater number of general education courses and are for students who are likely to enter baccalaureate programs in the areas of elementary education, early childhood education or child development. The recommended curriculum for the Associate of Applied Science Degree in Early Childhood Education also contains many courses that may be applied to four-year programs, but is primarily designed for students who are not planning to pursue a bachelor's degree.
