CC KeyAn American in Paris
In this lively French class, you will spend five memorable days in Paris, the City of Lights, floating the Seine River, climbing the Eiffel Tower, wandering through the catacombs, eating croissants in a corner café, and many other fun activities.  You will make souvenirs such as a hand-painted French beret from the artist’s quarter, or a stained glass rose window from Notre Dame.  You will indulge yourself at a chocolatier and, best of all; you will learn a ton of fun, useful French!  Allons!  (Let’s go!).

CC KeyAnatomy and Physiology
If you really want to get into studying living things, this course is for you!  We will dissect a frog, a heart, and an eyeball.  We will do experiments and find out what makes living things tick.

CC KeyBookmaking Bonanza
Folded books, books with secret pockets, tiny books, books in which to sketch - books, books, books.  In this class you will learn to make a variety of unique books in which you can place photographs, autographs, sketches, creative writings, and even secrets.  Your end results will be gift worthy - if you can part with any of them.Top

CC KeyChemistry Chaos
Chemistry (kem-iss-tree):  The study of chemicals and chemical reactions.  More importantly, you will learn how to make things change color, smoke, and then blow up. . . useful life skills.  You are cordially invited to poke, prod, pour, postulate, and generally oooh and aaah!!  Participants will make silly putty, foam, slime, and coagulate polystyrene.  This is just what it sounds like, only you, the chemist, make it from scratch using the materials in class.  You will get the “How Come, Huh?”—translation, “explanation”, so that you can wow your friends and family with your new knowledge.

CC KeyComputer Flight Simulator Training
Want to earn your wings?  Want to learn to fly someday?  Using Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000, you can learn some of the fundamentals of flying a simple, single-engine plane in all kinds of weather and terrain.  You will keep a log of your flight time.  The class will be fun and a lot of hard, frustrating work. Note:  This is a double session course.  Students who enroll in this course for Session I must also choose it as their Session II course.Top

CC KeyComputer Stuff
No matter what you already know about using a computer, you'll know more when this class is over.  Learn how to do "computer stuff" ranging from creating a slide show about yourself, to writing your own screen saver program, to searching the Internet for your favorite tuba player; to finding clip art you can use anywhere.  Find out how to do all this and more.

CC KeyFossil Preparation and Specimen Study of Ancient Life Forms
Take a look inside the world of fossil preparation as you work on your own mini-dig.  Each student will get a fossil dig with various specimens hidden inside waiting to be discovered.  Students will also make “quarry maps” of their digs to document where something was discovered in their digs.Top

CC KeyThe Human Genome Project 
Everyone wonders about DNA.  What is the stuff?  Does it really help to solve crime?  Do you have a DNA fingerprint?  Take this course and learn more about deoxyribonucleic acid.

CC KeyKEY Players
Have you been bitten by the acting bug?  Do you like to peek behind the curtains to see what’s going on behind the scenes?  In this fun-filled action packed theatrical experience, you will dabble into everything that goes into making a successful play: acting exercises, the directing process, make-up secrets, costume tricks, scenery production, and how to use dance and song to spice up the show.  Then, we’ll put it all together and produce a little musical to perform on Super Saturday.  There’s something for everyone.  Come join the KEY Players! Note:  This is a double session course.  Students who enroll in this course for Session III must also choose it as their Session IV course.Top

CC KeyL’Ecole Des-Beaux Arts (French Art School)
Do you like to paint?  Do you like to travel?  Join us on this adventure to “L’Ecole Des-Beaux Arts” (French Art School).  There you will learn how to create beautiful watercolors, and also how to speak French!  Your experienced bi-lingual art teacher will show you how to draw and paint something new each day - animals, houses, people - guiding your every step by demonstrating and speaking to you in French.  So while you are learning to see in a creative way, you are effortlessly picking up a foreign language.  By the end of the five-day course, you will know more about watercolor technique and you will even be able to talk about your creations in French!

CC KeyMas-car-ade by U & Company
Have you ever put on a mask and felt different?  Did you possibly take on the spirit and personality of that mask?  Masks are indeed mysterious.  Learn more about masks and mask making while creating several unique types made from a variety of materials including a real plaster cast of your very own face!  So…don’t be shy, don’t be afraid, grab a partner and find out what’s behind your masquerade.Top

CC KeyMath without Limits
Zome tools, pendulums, fractals and more will be used in this class to show you math you have never seen before!  You will investigate math in ways that will stretch your mind to it’s mathematical limits.  Come on in, but be careful.  You might have some fun!

CC KeyNewsroom
Have you ever wanted to be a part of the excitement of the newsroom?  The stories coming together, the headlines, the deadlines . . .  Newsroom has a place for you.  You will become the editor of your own column.  Take your pick - Travel, Food, Arts and Entertainment, People in the News, Fascinating Facts, Dear Abby, Photography, Comics, and more!  Together we will create and publish a newspaper for KEY.Top

CC KeyNo Picassos Required!
That’s right…you don’t have to be an artistic genius to enjoy the fun experience of producing the projects offered in this course.  In this class we will explore and use a variety of materials and creative techniques to make several unique works of art.  The best part of it all is that each project is success guaranteed.  Hmmm, even Picasso himself would have to approve.

CC KeyOceanography and Creatures of the Sea
This course will cover the origin of life in the sea, marine biology, and the use of maps in determining the nature of the sea floor.  Emphasis will be given to it’s rocks and shells (including microscope work) and the fossils of past sea life.  The mineral wealth of the sea and the potential of polluting our oceans will be better understood.  We will visit an ancient beach and fish deposit.Top

CC KeyOut of this World
Do you like space?  Then join this class and spend a week in training.  Students will explore rocket theory, study the effects of cold on food, predict and learn how simple toys work on earth and in the weightless environment of space.  Hands-on activities will include building a cube on land and in a “weightless” water environment.  Students will need a swimsuit for this class late in the week.  You will also build and launch model rockets.

CC KeyPrint Mania
When printmaking, if one is good, two are better.  Make prints using soft rubber, styrofoam and erasers.  Create your own tee-shirt art and silk screen your personal shirt.Top

CC KeyProblem Solving Using Dice, Games and More!
Students will use hands-on activities to learn problem solving skills in estimation, games, predictions and probability.  Activities include checkers, Chinese checkers, Mancala, and other games.  Using 12, 20 and 30 sided dice, students will predict and use strategies to try and outmaneuver other students.  Estimation jar activities will be provided with strategies discussed.  Other activities are “Red Herrings,” and hands-on wooden puzzles that will really challenge you!

CC KeyPuzzle Masters
Do you like puzzles?  Math puzzles, Number puzzles, Word puzzles, Crossword puzzles. Wuzzles,  Jumbles., Cryptograms.  First we'll try out puzzles made by someone else.  Then you'll make your own.Top

CC KeyRobotics
KEY Robotics is a course that will teach participants how to build, program and operate a robot based on the Lego RCX brick using the LEGO Robotics Invention System 2.0. These are not your little brother’s or sister’s LEGOS! This sophisticated robotic system will be able to maneuver through obstacles, move objects, respond to its environment and complete tasks. Participants will start with parts and design, build and program a robot of their own design.

CC KeyTaste Sensations from Many Nations
Prepare your taste buds; they are about to experience five days of excitement!  Each day we will select recipes from around the world . . . Mexico, the United States, the Middle East, India and China.  We will shop for ingredients, prepare breakfasts, sandwiches, soups, main courses, side dishes, salads and desserts, and sample our work.  You will learn basic cooking skills and terms as you go, and you will leave the class with a recipe book of all your favorites.  On Super Saturday your family will view and sample your work for themselves!  NOTE:  This is a double session course.  Students who enroll in this course for Session I must also choose it as their Session II course.Top

CC KeyThings That Fly
Students will build a kite using only tissue paper, straws and string.  You will predict and use hands-on experiences to test how airflow forces work on various materials such as Frisbees, aerobies, alka-seltzer rockets and more.  You will make your own airplane and compete in contests against other class members! 

CC KeyVirtus Walk Through
Imagine building 3-D worlds in which you can navigate in real-time movement.  Create and manipulate space on a computer and then walk through these environments as if you were actually there.  You don’t have to be a nerd-bait, pocket protector toting, pencil-neck to understand this program; however, a mastery of mouse clicking comes in handy.  Construct your dream home, build your own Tyrannosaurus Rex or reconstruct the Leaning Tower of Pisa; then hold on and take a ride through your creations!Top

CC KeyVisits to the Real “Jurassic Park
This double-session course will provide time for fossil preparation activities, and visits to actual dinosaur beds of the Delta.  You will explore for marine reptiles, clam beds and squids of the ancient seas.  Four field trips will help you reconstruct the Golden Age of the Monsters.  We will better understand the environment of the “time of dying’ - Could it happen again?  For the daring of heart, we will climb the cliffs on the trail of several Pterodactyls!  Bring rough hiking shoes, hats and pop money beginning Monday!  Note:  This is a double session course.  Students who enroll in this course for Session III must also choose it as their Session IV course.

CC KeyWriter’s Workshop
Have you ever dreamed of becoming a writer, of publishing your own story, poem, book, play or article?  In Writer’s Workshop you will delve into the fundamentals of effective, written communication.  Using a “treasure list” of writing ideas from your own and others’ experiences, you will create original writings that may be submitted for publication.  You will never again have to wonder about a possible topic for your writing!
